On my previous post about battery companies being a little “flexible with the truth”, I didn’t provide any conclusion as to which batteries were actually better. According to Battery Comparison Test Data it looks like Duracell are better than Energizer in Alkaline batteries. I couldn’t find much other useful data.

In researching which batteries really are better I came across some interesting court cases related to my concern about deceptive advertisements :

• In Gillette Australia Pty Ltd v Energizer Australia Pty Ltd [2002] it was decided that Duracell’s advert was OK.
• In Gillette Australia Pty Ltd v Energizer Australia Pty Ltd [2005] it was decided that “Energizer had engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct”.

It seems a little inconsistent to me, since it appears that both companies had been doing very similar things.
